Materials for one sachet
2 3/4" x 25 3/4" piece of fabric
Note; If desired, line bow piece with 2 3/4" x 9 3/4" strip
of white batiste to prevent dark potpourri from showing through light fabric.
2" (3/8" - wide) of ribbon for hanger loop (optional)
Thread to match
Vanishing fabric marker
Small plastic hanger (optional)
Dried lavender flowers or very fine potpourri
Instructions:
1. From fabric, cut 1 (9 3/4" - long) strip for bow, 1 (14 1/2"
- long) strip for
streamer, and 1 (1 1/2" - long) strip for center wrap.
2. On each short end of bow strip, turn under 1/4" and baste. With
fabric marker,
mark center point of bow strip. With right sides facing, fold each
hemmed end to center, as show in diagram.
Maching-stich along each long edge of bow; turn right side out.
Fill each side loosely
with lavender or potpourri. Slipstitch each opening closed.
3. To make streamer from 14 1/2" - long strip, repeat Step 2, omitting
lavender or potpourri. Press.
4. With seam sides down, center bow unit on streamer. For center
wrap, turn 1 short
edge of 1 1/2" - long strip under 1/4" and baste. With right
side down, fold each long edge toward center to measure 3/4" x 2 1/2" and
baste. Wrap strip around bow and streamer, pleating if desired; overlap
raw end of strip with hemmed end. Slipstitch to secure.
For horizontal hanger loop, turn each cut end of ribbon under 1/2".
Tack securely to back of bow. If desired, slide onto plastic hanger.
